This is something I’ve wanted to make for a long time — a beginner’s guide to Ex-YU music, from the Yugoslav psychedelic pop rock of the ’60s to the Novi Val scene of the ’80s.

It’s not a comprehensive history, but rather a passion project that introduces some of the most important, exciting, or simply underrated music from the region.

I recorded this using basic tools, so the sound is a bit DIY. Still, I hope it’s helpful or inspiring to anyone curious about this unique music scene.
